Support for Your Ideas, Projects, and Events

If you have an idea, project, or event that could benefit the Fairview community, you do not have to figure everything out on your own. Fairview Community is here to help you take the next step, whether you are just getting started or already have something in mind.

Many people want to improve their neighbourhood but are unsure where to begin, who to talk to, or how to access funding and support. This page explains how we can help and what kind of support is available.

Who This Support Is For

You can ask for help if you are:

  • A resident with an idea to improve the local area
  • Someone planning a community event or activity
  • A volunteer group needing support or coordination
  • A resident looking for funding or advice on funding applications
  • Someone who wants to bring people together around a shared idea
  • New to community activity and unsure where to start

You do not need to be part of an established group, and you do not need prior experience. If your idea benefits the Fairview community, it is worth a conversation.

What Kind of Help Is Available

Fairview Community provides practical, supportive help tailored to the stage your idea or project is at. This can include:

Help Shaping Your Idea

If your idea is still forming, we can help you think it through. This might involve clarifying your goals, identifying who your idea is for, or exploring whether similar projects already exist. Sometimes a short conversation is enough to turn a rough idea into something more workable.

Support Finding Funding

Accessing funding can feel confusing or intimidating. We help identify potential funding sources and explain what they are looking for. We can also support you to understand eligibility, timelines, and what information funders usually expect.

Where appropriate, we can help you prepare or strengthen funding applications so your idea has the best chance of success.

Help Finding Volunteers and Supporters

Many projects need more than one person to succeed. We can help connect you with volunteers or others who may be interested in supporting your idea, whether through practical help, skills, or time.

We can also help share opportunities more widely so people in the community know how to get involved.

Advice on Planning and Delivery

If you are organising an event or activity, we can offer guidance on planning, coordination, and next steps. This may include thinking through timelines, responsibilities, and practical considerations to help your project run smoothly.

Our aim is not to take over, but to help you feel more confident and supported as you move forward.

Ongoing Support and Guidance

Some projects benefit from ongoing advice or occasional check-ins. Fairview Community can provide continued support as your idea develops, helping you navigate challenges and adapt as needed.

We understand that community projects do not always move in straight lines, and flexibility is often part of the process.

What We Can and Cannot Do

We aim to be open and realistic about the support we can offer.

We can:

  • Help you develop and shape ideas
  • Support funding searches and applications
  • Help connect you with volunteers or partners
  • Offer advice based on local knowledge and experience
  • Help promote projects within the community

We cannot:

  • Guarantee funding or approvals
  • Run projects on your behalf
  • Provide personal financial support
  • Replace statutory services or professional providers

Our role is to support, guide, and enable, not to control or take ownership of projects that belong to the community.

A Supportive and Inclusive Approach

We understand that asking for help can sometimes feel daunting. Our approach is friendly, respectful, and non-judgemental. You do not need to have the “right words” or a polished proposal to get in touch.

We aim to make support accessible to everyone, including people who may feel isolated, unsure, or lacking confidence. All conversations are treated with respect, and we work at a pace that suits you.

What Happens Next

If you get in touch, we will usually start with a simple conversation to understand your idea or situation. From there, we can suggest next steps, signpost support, or explore how Fairview Community can help.

You are not committing to anything by reaching out. Sometimes a short conversation is all that is needed to unblock an idea or clarify options.

Looking Ahead

Fairview Community exists to help people turn ideas into action and ensure that good projects do not stall due to lack of support, confidence, or access to resources.

By helping residents, volunteers, and groups move forward with their ideas, we help build a stronger, more connected Fairview where people feel supported to take part and make a difference.

If you have an idea, need support, or simply want to talk something through, we are here to help.
